Community Involvement

Fairview Pointe Claire is dedicated to working with the local community to assist with fundraising activities that benefit us all. Throughout the year, many fundraising efforts are made to help renowned foundations. Below is a brief summary of Fairview Pointe Claire’s contribution to registered charities and philanthropic endeavours.

 CHILDREN'S WISH FOUNDATION

The Fashion Centres have initiated a stroller rental program to support the Children’s Wish Foundation. Recognized as a Diamond partner of this Foundation, the Fashion Centres are donating $1 per stroller rental to the foundation. Since de begining of the program in 2007, $327,000 were generated and over 33 children wishes were granted.

LAKESHORE GENERAL HOSPITAL FOUNDATION

Thanks to the availability and support of its many volunteers, Lakeshore General Hospital Foundation raised more than $30,600 at its gift-wrapping kiosk as part of its annual fundraising campaign.

From November 26 to December 24, 2011, customers of Fairview Pointe Claire took advantage of this service and contributed generously to this fundraiser.

We are delighted to welcome the Hospital Foundation back for its gift-wrapping activity in December 2012.

WEST ISLAND COMMUNITY SHARES

The mission of the West Island Community Shares is to be the community development and fundraising organization on which West Island community groups can count on for growth, solidarity and resources, so that all West Islanders can gain access to vital program and services, when needed.

Fairview Pointe Claire is a proud partner of the West Island Community Shares.  Since 2002, more than $42,000 was given to the foundation with all the money raised in the fountains of the mall.

Since October 2010, used cartridges can be deposited in a collection box located between Old Navy and HomeSense. As part of a work reintegration program, clients of the Centre Bienvenue, a non-profit organization that provides services to West Island adults coping with mental illness, will collect and sort the cartridges for sale to recycling companies. The proceeds from the sale of the cartridges will be distributed to West Island Community Shares and Centre Bienvenue. Cartridges that are not recyclable will be disposed of in an eco-friendly manner.

HÉMA-QUÉBEC
GIVE BLOOD, THE GIFT OF LIFE

Blood clinics are organized several times a year by Héma-Québec to collect essential supplies that are needed in our society.

Did you know that only 3% of eligible Québec blood donors contribute to the collective blood supply managed by Héma-Québec, and that we need to collect a minimum of 1,000 donations a day to meet the needs of Québec’s’ population? It’s a major challenge for Héma-Québec and Fairview Pointe Claire is proud to support it by hosting several clinics during the year in the centre court of the mall.
